I rise, turning to the force field, fully revealing myself but no longer caring. I choose the spot where I would blow up the arena. My bow tilts up at the wavering square, the flaw, the … what did he call it that day? The fault in the picture. I let the arrow fly, see it hit its mark and vanish, pulling the thread of gold behind it. My eyes are blinded as lightning strikes the tree. A flash of white runs up the wire, and for just a moment, the dome bursts into a dazzling blue light. I’m flung into the air, desperately trying to grasp the surrounding tree branches. I can’t reach Peeta, I can’t even reach my pearl, My eyes strain to capture one last image of beauty to take with me.
Katniss follows through with Beetees plan and goes to the tree. They wrap the tree in the wire when the district two tributes intervene. They fight them off. Katniss out of desperation wraps the other end of the coil onto one of her arrows and shoots it strait at the force field surrounding the arena. The arena explodes and a hover craft manifests and brings up Katniss. She finds Beetee and Finnick. Finnick explains that the rest have been captured and that it was half of the tributes plan to save her. She was supposed to lead the rebellion.
Katniss hears her sister, Prim, call out to her. She rushes into the jungle to find that the noise is just a Jabberjay, a bird that can replicate words and sounds. Finnick runs next to her looking for Annie, a friend of his that called out his name. They try to escape the jungle, but there is an invisible wall blocking them off. When the hour is over they are able to escape. That night the anthem plays and sixteen tributes have been killed off. Only their group, the district two tributes, and Chaff remain. Beetee comes up with a plan to kill the remaining tributes. He wants to link his wire to the tree and run it to the water. When lightning strikes the tree, it will shock the wire and electrocute everything in the water
Katniss’ group meets up with Johanna, Beetee and Wiress. Beetee is very badly injured with a knife wound and they are all covered in blood. Johanna explains that there had been blood rain. Finnick told them about their struggles too. Wiress is in shock and she cannot stop saying tick-tock. Katniss realizes that the whole arena is a huge giant clock, with a new threat each hour in a certain sector. They go to the cornucopia to load up with weapons when Gloss, the male tribute from district one kills Wiress. He immediately dies by the hands of Katniss. His sister, Cashmere is hit with an ax thrown by Johanna.
